If you’re an audiophile who only listens to music on record players, you will know that vinyl records are the most fragile thing in the world. Just a fingerprint or slight scratch will cause the music to be distorted. Once a vinyl record is scratched, there is really nothing much you can do to fix it besides getting a new one. That is why we are here to share with you useful ways to maintain your vinyl records so that they last even longer than you (jokes)!
The first rule that you should always follow is to thoroughly wash and dry your hands everytime you handle your vinyls. Hold the vinyl on the edges and make sure you only touch the labelled areas. Try to avoid contact with the rest of the record as there is usually oil and dirt on our fingers.
When you store your vinyl records, be sure to store them vertically next to each other instead of stacking them on top of each other. This will ensure that they do not pile up and cause damage to the record at the bottom. There are many containers specially designed to store records. Get one of those. You won’t regret it.
